Open Source Ecology

by Frank on April 18, 2012

Open Source Ecology is a network of farmers, engineers, and supporters that for the last two years has been creating the Global Village Construction Set, an open source, low-cost, high performance technological platform that allows for the easy, DIY fabrication of the 50 different Industrial Machines that it takes to build a sustainable civilization with modern comforts. The GVCS lowers the barriers to entry into farming, building, and manufacturing and can be seen as a life-size lego-like set of modular tools that can create entire economies, whether in rural Missouri, where the project was founded, in urban redevelopment, or in the developing world. James Wise will be present with information about Open Source Ecology ready for an interesting discussion.

Wholesale Computer Supply, LLC started in 2000 as a two person operation. At that time we were currently working mostly with resellers and trade shows. In September of 2001, we opened our first store front. Since then we have grown to two storefronts, expanding both our services, and offerings. Each storefront specializes in different parts and services, one for laptops, and the other for desktops. Wholesale Computer Supply is graciously providing a booth for recycling your electronics.

Fashion Exchange

by Frank on April 12, 2012

This Year’s Evofest features a Fashion Exchange! A fashion exchange is where people bring in their lightly used quality clothes and exchange them for other clothes that they value. It’s a way to save money and clean out the closet while staying fresh and getting the styles you like.

It’s a pretty simple idea, but here’s some information for those of you dying to know more:

Bring as many items as you would like to swap. Items should be clean and in good condition. The more you bring, the more you can swap!

When you arrive at the Swap Party, you will be given one Exchange Token for each item you bring.

Add your items to the display. Once the items are at the Fashion Exchange, they are no longer yours.

Nothing can be claimed until the host opens the Exchange Floor.

Spend some time browsing the items and chatting to the other swappers.

Once the host announces the Exchange is open, you may claim as many items as you have Swap Tokens.

If two or more of you want the same item, put one each of your Swap Tokens in a hat for the host to draw a lucky winner.

Go Green and recycle your own paper!

Book Swap

by Frank on April 2, 2012

Have a bunch of books lying around the house?

A book swap is a great place to recycle and update your book shelf without costing the earth. Evofest will have an area set aside for bookworms, romancers, sci-fi/fantasy lovers and more.

Bring out your old books, swap them for other books, or maybe some other goods as people take an interest in your library.

We will host a swap zone where attendees can trade books, clothes, art, stickers, or any trinket or item they can manage to make a deal on. Come out, find some cool books and trade!
